If you’re a Colorado girl born and raised, there is no where else you would rather get married than a beautiful mountain top in the stunning Rocky Mountains. As a mountain girl myself, I will take you on a guide of my five favorite dream wedding spots in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Summit County.
One Ski Hill
Although One Ski Hill is a timeshare property, it still fits the bill when it comes to an amazing mountainside venue! Located at the base of Peak 8 on Breckenridge Mountain, this location gives you the backdrop of one of the most beautiful ski areas in the world. The building itself boasts amazing exposed beams, clean lines and sleek finishes. One Ski Hill not only has amazing views, but you can have rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and reception all in one place! Because this venue is located at the bottom of the mountain, it is the easiest to access. This is incredibly important for our beloved grandparents who may already be struggling with the mountain air!
Ten Mile Station
Ten Mile Station, located on Peak 9 of Breckenridge Mountain, is not only Breckenridge’s premier mountain wedding venue but the definition of perfection when it comes to an outdoor ceremony. This venue has views on views on views. If you’re like me and just want to be married out in that fresh mountain air, there are many different backdrops to choose from. If you prefer to have an indoor wedding (or have the Colorado weather take a turn on you), the dining area also has stunning panoramic views. The building itself lends to an aura of rustic old west Colorado with class and elegance. Because this venue is closer to the base of the mountain, guests have complimentary Colorado Mountain Express vans as transportation. Another easier travel option than some other mountainside venues. Plus, the few weddings I’ve attended at the Ten Mile Station had absolutely delicious food!
Keystone Ranch is a more accessible mountainside wedding venue – you don’t have to ride a chairlift up to the venue! This ranch is the original homestead from the 1930s and exudes a feeling of truly being on the frontier. Their outdoor ceremony area is a large green lawn that overlooks the Soda Creek Valley, Swan Mountain and the Ten Mile Range. This venue also has an amazing building where you can hold your ceremony and reception. With stone decor, large wooden furniture and an enormous wood fireplace, you really cannot go wrong. The Ranch is also known for its superb food and is open as a restaurant when not hosting events! Check out the amazing food and fall in love with your future wedding venue.
The Keytop Overlook is a place I dream of getting married every weekend I am skiing! This is one of two absolutely amazing venues on Keystone mountain. The Keytop Overlook is easier to access than the other Keystone mountaintop venue, Timber Ridge. With only one gondola ride, you can have your wedding party of up to 200 people comfortably arranged in front of the stunning Ten Mile Range atop Dercum Mountain. Although this venue is only for ceremonies, you can pair it with a reception hosted at any other Keystone Mountain venue. They have an on-site weather backup at the Summit Haus so you really cannot go wrong choosing this venue for your ceremony!
Timber Ridge has been my dream wedding venue ever since I was a little flower girl at a wedding there when I was six. This venue is the definition of rustic, chic, mountain elegance. With its immense towering wooded timbers along the main hall, to the floor to ceiling wood fireplace to the amazing wooden picnic tables, it truly is a Mountain girls dream. This venue has a beautiful porch available for your ceremony with stunning views of the Ten Mile and Gore Ranges. A little harder to get to, the two gondola rides are an amazing part of transporting your guests to your mountain fairytale. Timber Ridge allows a mountain bride limited stress with decor because the venue does at least 75% of the work for you!
As a mountain girl, it is so hard for me to decide if I will tie the knot in the summer or in the winter, lucky for me most of these places are available in both!
